Craigie Orchards - open for business Named after Port Credit's Craigie family which farmed an orchard operation here for many years, Wimpey acquired the land and commenced planning development of 140 townhouses in rows. This plan was fought by the local Credit Valley Reserve Association (CVRA) which was successful in having the Ontario Municipal Board change the planning permission to 102 townhouses. The "row" design was changed to the pleasant winding road landscape we have today. By Spring 1977, model homes were completed and furnished, and a Sales Office was located in a trailer positioned in the current parking area just north of townhouse 102. At that time, the Mineola Road entrance was for construction and trade access only; cars visiting the Sales Office drove in from Hurontario Street. On arrival, prospective purchasers were given a sales booklet which described the six models of available townhouses. Click here to view the sales literature. We were also given a list of the equipment and other features which came with each townhouse unit. On the wall was a plan of the development showing the location of the six townhouse model styles.
